DISHA started its activities in a small rented accommodation with 18 children in 1995 thanks to an eminent educationist, Mrs. P.N. Kavoori. The number of children grew with the time and while Ms. Elsa Peretti was visiting India in 2001, with the recommendation of H.H. Rajmata Gayatri Devi, Ms. Peretti approved granted DISHA for the construction of the present building. The new building was inaugurated in December 2004. This is one of the best infrastructures in the country catering to disability. This has only been possible due to the magnanimous support of the Nando Peretti Foundation.
The present project, which received a grant from the Nando Peretti Foundation, is about painting the building (distemper and oil paint for the wooden fixtures and classroom furniture), and is a natural continuation of the previous project of construction of the same building.
