The objective of the project was the creation of the "Centro Donna e Famiglia", a structure which would welcome and assist elderly women in need of care, often living in a situation of poverty; a place where they would find some comfort, advice and practical help to make their own lives less unhappy and more serene.
To this purpose Fondazione Turriziani received a donation of two old rooms from the Parish of Frosinone, which nontheless required a very long restoration and a complete reconstruction. The facilities were in fact crumbling and in great disrepair. A complete makeover was necessary for the creation of a Reception Office and a Warehouse.
The reconstruction process was massive and included the complete renovation of doors and windows as well as the electrical and heating systems. The Center was then equipped with furniture, telephone, shelves, refrigerators, wardrobes, chairs and a computer.
The purpose of the Center is to assist the poor and women in serious need who must provide financial support to their families and to offer economic aid for their jobless grandchildren. The Center also distributes food and clothing to families in need. In the Center Reception room, the volunteers of the Fondazione Turriziani listen to the problems and sufferings of those in need and provides them with immediate help.
This is a very important opportunity to give those in need hope and advice and to try to help them fight the deep and desperate solitude that affects them. Next to the Reception Room there is a Warehouse in which all the humanitarian aids are stored. Twice a month the volunteers donate a care package to those in need that includes food and other basic goods. Each week, 15 volunteers work at the Center and provide immediate intervention for the poor. All of goods, such as food and clothing, are monthly gathered by the Italian Association "Sempre insieme per la pace" based in Rome and are then transported to the Center by a vehicle offered by the Fondazione Turriziani.
