SALVADOR PROJECT RESULTS

An area of about 40 Km2  has been hydro geologically investigated and mapped.

A total of 8 (eight) bore holes have been drilled in different places, starting from near to the Villages of Barrancones and La Rompición going up to the north, close to the volcanic rock outcrops and following the fault lines.

Three drillings have been converted into production wells and one in particular, called "POZO CHAGUITE" has been chosen, after appropriate pumping tests and water analysis, to be equipped with a submerged pump and used to supply with water the rural aqueduct that is at present under construction.

The production well - which is located at a distance of about 5,5 Km from the Village of Barrancones - is working at present and people from the Villages go collecting water at it.

The rural aqueduct includes a concrete water tank located at an appropriate height (capacity of 15 cubic meters) in order to guarantee a correct water flow for distribution, a pipeline and a certain number of fountains ("cantareras") along and at the end of the water pipeline for the water distribution (a number of 16 (sixteen) "cantareras" has been foreseen).

The water tank is constructed by the Municipality of Pasaquina, all the piping equipment has been supplied by LA UNION office of MARN, while the "Comité de Aguas" is taking care, with proper working turns, of the practical execution of the works, which are at present date at a good progression stage.

In November 2002 some letters of thanks have been addressed to THE NANDO PERETTI FUNDATION by:

MINISTERIO MEDIO AMBIENTE Y RECURSOS NATURALES (MARN) OFFICINA DEPARTAMENTAL LA UNION

ALCALDIA MUNICIPAL DE PASAQUINA

DIRECTIVA DE AGUAS BARRANCONES / LA ROMPICIÓN

They all expressed their appreciation for the very important financial support received in order to achieve this Project, which will deeply improve the quality of life of some 2.500 people.
