The problem ISSD wants to address is the lack of ITC skills in women in general, and specifically in those that are dedicated to evangelisation and education. The loss of not taking advantage of the enormous potential that ITC has for the future of young people accentuates the problem. The project plans to offer a mean to assure the use of this potential in the advancement of human values. The project intends to offer a scholarships for seven nuns involved in the area of the education of young people and disadvantage people, in order to improve their ICT skills , as so to take advantage of technology in the pursuit of evangelisation and in their efforts of transmitting human values to young people.

The Nando Peretti Foundation has awarded a grant for this project. To pursue its mission, ISSD collaborates with philanthropic associations of women (IdeeMigrantes), companies with missions of Social Responsibilities (MarcoPolo Environmental Group), Universities (UniversitàEuropea di Roma, Universidad Anáhuac, Mexico) and Information Technology Industries (Google, Microsoft, Facebook).

By giving women a better education, also applying innovation and technology, ISSD encourages them to cultivate their dignity and leadership abilities, especially in small communities, becoming a key agent for change. The main mission of the Institute of Higher Studies on Women of Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum is to promote the dignity of women and their specific contribution to society, empowering them through a higher level of academic education in order to facilitate their access to opportunities and success in society.

The Pontifical Atheneum Regina Apostolorum is an educational Institute of the Roman Catholic Church in Rome founded by the Legionaries of Christ and the lay ecclesial movement Regnum Christi, and officially approved by the Congregation of Catholic Education on the 15th of September 1993.
ISSD is launching a project (web wired women), to encourage the use of Information and Communication Technology among women and to give birth to a new movement of education and cultures for women advancement.

ISSD intends to train young teachers and educators, lay and religious, who will reach communities, especially in the poorest areas of the world, to teach both how to build a business using technology and how to finance microenterprise for professional growth and young women advancement. Working with faith-based organizations, ISSD wishes to build a global value chain, while becoming a major pastoral challenge through social communication. The First Master in Communication and New Media with the collaboration of Google is dedicated to educating practitioners and leaders.
