Beyond the Culture Edge : Musical Project in Portuguese and Italian and Production of Two CD-ROMs

The project co-financed by the Nando Peretti Foundation presented by the cultural association “fai la tua pArte”, consists in the realization of two cds of the Italo–Brazilian singer Sandy Müller. The two cds, including the same 11 songs will be sung one in Italian, the other in Portuguese as two different forms of a same musical project. The project proposes itself to cross the border of all the linguistic limits through
the fruition of the artistic creation. It relies on the double capacity of art to integrate cultures emphasizing their common sensibility as an aggregation element, and on the other hand of highlighting their different sensibilities as a starting point for an analysis of “the other’s” point of view.
The musical production will be given to Marcelo Costa, Brazilian producer and percussionist, and to Claudio Pezzotta, Italian guitarist and arranger who composed, together with Sandy Müller, 7 of the 11 songs of the cds. Pezzotta will also be the arranger of 7 songs while Jaques Morelenbaum, a famous Brazilian cello player, will arrange the remaining 4.
The association also intends to invite the Brazilian piano player and João Carlos Coutinho, the Italian singer Ivan Segreto and the Italian clarinet player Nico Gori to take part of the recording. The cds will be recorded in Rio de Janeiro where the production will be able to count on a highly experienced staff (recording and mixing operators) and on structures (recording, mixing and mastering studios) where some of the most important Brazilian artists recorded their works.
Once the recording is finished, the intention is to divulge the project. The Association intends to present the cd with a show at the Brazilian embassy in Rome, and a show in a prestigious theatre such as the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome (if possible; their availability must be checked as well as the Brazilian embassy’s) inviting, for the occasion, the musicians that took part to the recording: Ivan Segreto and Nico Gori.
The cd production started in February 2008 and will be ended approximately in November 2009. The shows will be performed approximately between the month of November 2009 and March 2010.
The Association also plans to transfer the rights concerning the cd to one or more music labels and allow them to commercialize it. In return the Association “Fai la tua parte” will receive from the labels the guarantee of a proper divulgation of the musical work. It is interest of the Association to highlight the role played by the Nando Peretti Foundation in the whole realization of the project, as well as to place the project at service of the dialogue between different cultures.
