Project for the tracing of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease in the event of escape from home or from health Istitutions

The Project involves the following offices of the Police Forces:

- General Command of the 'Carabinieri (MS Office Operations Department II)
- The Central Management for General Affairs of the State Police
- Anti-Crime Central Management of State Police.
- The Provincial Police Command in the province of Rome
- The Police of the province of Rome

The Combined Joint activities, specific to this project, are coordinated by the Prefect Bruno Frattasi.


Definitions

sick person: The person suffering from "Alzheimer's Disease"
Caregiver: Person who takes care of the sick person.
Primary Caregiver: The family who subscribes the contract of membership
Protected Area: Boundary of the area outside of which the sick person cannot get out.
Disappeared person: The person suffering from Alzheimer's, controlled by Contact Center room, who has moved away from the protected area.
Contact Center Room: Room equipped for the monitoring of the movements of the sick person, at the SDP.
Control Rooms: Operations room at the Police Forces.
GPS instrument: Instrument, equipped with GPS Locator, to be worn by the sick person.
Association: Associazione Alzheimer Uniti Onlus- Roma

The following steps are the beginning of the experiment, constituting a preparatory component of the whole project. The activities described below have been ordered following a competence-based grouping criterion, not the chronological order of execution of the same.

The time constraints of the experiment and the number of participants, force the staff to perform simulations that include all actors involved in the project. These were authorized, though not formalized in the meeting of May 23, 2011 chaired by the Prefect Bruno Frattasi.

The sick person exiting from the Protected Area, during the simulation phases, is provided with a person escorting him/her chosen by Prof. Bartorelli, as to guarantee his absolute safety.
Departures from the 'Protected Area' also imply the activation of the following alarm devices, which are to be tested during the simulation:
• the turning off of the devices
• reduction in the threshold of the battery
