The Gregorian-Latin Liturgy and the Sacred Polyphony of the Roman School in the Basilica of San Pietro in Vaticano

The Association Giovani e Tradizione received a grant from the Nando Peretti Foundation for the last of a 3 days event (13-14 and 15 May 2011), as the culmination of a long journey of awareness and rediscovery of ancient Catholic liturgy and its musical and artistic heritage closely linked to it. 
After more than forty years since the introduction of the reformed liturgy, May 15th was a historic day because  the Latin Old Roman Liturgy was celebrated for the first time, by a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church with the help of other bishops and cardinals and clergy at the Altar of the Chair, a highly symbolic place.

The Basilica of St. Peter is the Basilica of the Apostle Peter and his successor. There are  the sacred relics of the Prince of the Apostles. Here there is the Chair, the place of the Magisterium of the Roman Pontiff on Catholics (Urbe and Orbe).
In addition, this liturgy was accompanied by the performance of sacred polyphonic choral music of the Roman School, which saw its birth in the Papal Chapel "Sistine Chapel" for the papal liturgical service in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican.

The event was the crowning of a study conference on Benedict XVI Summorum Pontificum, three years after its promulgation, which took place on 13-14 May 2011 at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Urbe (Angelicum), whose Speakers were bishops from around the world.

On May 13 the event started with the pre-conference only for members of the clergy. Saturday 14 May the meeting was open to all people and  also included a roundtable discussion with distinguished Vatican experts to discuss the papal document. Papal universities students and delegations  attended the conference in particular from various parts of the world interested in the subject, in addition to people who wanted to assist to the event of May 15, 2011.
