  [2011-30 | 2015-004 | 2018-017]

In 2009 the NPF renewed the funding for Asociaciòn XXI, by then re-named Asociaciòn "Centro Virgen Nina"- E.P.D.B, to support the activities of its El Alto Center. The Center is the only place where local people can find education, food, medical assistance, and spiritual healing. Its comedòr, in fact, provides food for over 1000 people per day, mainly young, mothers, children and elders. In the past it had proved very difficult to provide more than rice, some vegetables and one fruit per person. The increase of the number of children with disabilities forced the Organization to create a proper environment for the physiotherapy room, setting up a mini-gym where children could continue the physical rehabilitation, followed by qualified personnel.

Since 2009, governmental aids to the ambulatories, where doctors, nurses, dentists, physiotherapists work for the needy community, have been cut off, in spite of the intervention of H.E the Nuncio and the Bishop with the competent ministry. The same has happened for the services that take care of 70 disabled children. This has made external funding even more necessary and important to the continuity and the progress of El Alto community. Moreover, since 2009 there is warm water, but there is still lack of towels. As a consequence, many women have proved willing to learn to knit and sew, to autonomously solve the problem.
