Osteo-arthrosis is a painful disease which reduces the body functionality and mobility. Discopathy is a disease which affects the inter-vertebral disk provoking a painful syndrome called lumbo-sciatica. Both of them are being treated through the prescription of steroids or anti inflammatory drugs, which cause a number of collateral effects, particularly serious in aging patients, and threat just the symptoms. Because of the frequent failure of the above mentioned therapies several patients are obliged to undertake high invasive surgery. This disease's diffusion in Italy is illustrated by the scientific results and relative data's furnished by the WHO ( word health organization), and further confirmed by the national and UE epidemiologic control agencies , such as the Italian Istituto Superiore di Sanita'. Life expectance is constantly rising, which means that a growing number of aging patients suffers of the above mentioned pathologies, which worsens their quality of life. This condition undoubtedly represents not only an individual but also a society problem. The national public health system in Italy is impotent to face this emergency. Not only the number of therapies given to the patients affected is insufficient, but also the adoption of new therapeutic resources is very slow.

The ARACO projects funded by the Nando Peretti Foundation aim at reaching and successfully treating a number up to 150 patients over sixty five belonging to less advantaged social classes (with an average number of at least 300 complete treatments, which means 1500 single therapies).
