The significant achievements of FFI's work in Belize in 2001-2002 prompted the Nando Peretti Foundation to continue its support for work in the region through the funding of the project "Empowering Local Conservation Management Practice through Capacity-Building and Institutional Strengthening in the Golden Stream Corridor Preserve, Belize. The project aimed to build on the success of work carried out in 2001-2002 to bring the Golden Stream watershed under better conservation management, whilst benefiting local Mayan communities, through FFI's institutional support to YCT.
