Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Artistic Glass

Project location: Italy, Sansepolcro, Arezzo
Project start date: July 2012 - Project end date: July 2013
Project number: 2012-017
Beneficiary: Associazione Culturale “diVetro” – Esperienze nell’Arte

The project, which received a grant from the Nando Peretti Foundation,  is based in the Valtiberina and the first edition will take place in the town of Sansepolcro (Arezzo). The aim is to promote both practical and artistic courses for individuals, social and welfare groups and schools, creating a biennial event that includes all these activities, as well as the work of famous artists who have tried their hand at glass work. The laboratories will either be in Antonella's work place or in the schools and welfare centres.

The promoting partners have worked in their modern laboratory for thirty years creating artefacts and works of art. In this first edition of the Biennial Exhibition their work will be on show alongside works by Tommaso Cascella, Bruno Ceccobelli, Dominique Landucci and others. Students from Antonella's previous course ,which has been running for about a year, will also be involved. Their work will be displayed in Palazzo Pretorio, while the guest artists and Antonella Farsetti herself will exhibit in Palazzo Inghirami and the Museo della Vetrata. The shop windows in the town centre will be decorated with works of art in glass, and the town's goldsmiths will create jewels working with the students' glass. These will be on display in their shop windows.
The project also includes an exhibition of photographs by Valter Lazzerini and Riccardo Lorenzi on show in Palazzo Inghirami. Their sensitive and artistic work will document the whole exciting experience.
The first aim is to promote the event itself, so that this can be the first edition of a successful biennial exhibition. The second is to publicize the practical courses that have already been organized. The intention is to create a master in glass work and fusion either using glass alone or with other materials. In that way Antonella Farsetti and Valter Lazzerini will be able to pass on to the students their knowledge and experience. The third result of the project will be the creation of laboratories in both junior and senior schools where pupils can develop both their artistic skills and their self-confidence. Each school will be able to organize its own timetable and programme. The fourth result will be the laboratories within the social and welfare groups for people with problems and handicaps. The aim will be to encourage manual ability and develop artistic skills that will then help the individuals with their various problems. The fifth result will be the collaboration of famous artists who test themselves for the first time in the creative art of glass fusion.

The Cultural Association"diVetro" - a contemporary art experience was founded on February 20th 2012 by Antonella Farsetti and Valter Lazzerini.
The aim is to promote personal, cultural development by making experiments in art and design, exploring unusual combinations in all fields of fine art and craftwork.
The idea is to create an artistic workshop that starts with glass and goes on to include all sorts of art forms.
Famous contemporary artists such as Tommaso Cascella, Bruno Ceccobelli and Dominique Landucci will be involved.
