Notice of competition for a research on Atypical HUS

In 2001 the Nando Peretti Foundation financed a grant for a research fellowship on rare diseases to the ARMR in Bergamo, Italy. The research was focused on the Atypical Hemolitic Uremic Syndrom. The results have been published on the NPF web site and are available to the public. An American foundation called "Foundation for Children with Atypical HUS" contacted the Nando Peretti Foundation: they are specialised in this field and are seeking a co-sponsorship for funding their research. Their idea was to publish a notice of competition for researchers specialised on this disease. The proposal with the most promising development for ultimate treatment or cure of the disease would be awarded with a grant. The proposals would be evaluated jointly by both Foundations. 50% of the grant would be financed by the NPF, the remaining 50% would be covered by the Foundation for Children with Atypical HUS. The Grant Reviewers have been chosen among the most important scientists and researchers, proposed by the "Foundation for Children with Atypical HUS", since the Nando Peretti Foundation has not a specific scientific background on this field. At the end, the Foundation for Children with Atypical HUS's Board has chosen the proposal coming from the Instituto Mario Negri in Bergamo (Italy), as the most serious and professional one.
