Project number: 2005-30
Beneficiary: Accademia di Bel Canto

Now established as one of the leading bel canto singing courses, the Solti Te Kanawa Accademia di Bel Canto offers each year 12 scholarships for young singers and 2 répétiteurs from all over the world to attend its 3-week course.
Working with prestigious educational partners such as the Royal Academy of Music in London, Conservatorio di Pescara, the Julliard School in New York and the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, the Accademia has already nurtured some 80 talented young singers at the start of their professional careers.
The Accademia invites celebrated opera singers and trainers to run masterclasses and sessions in singing, language, acting and performance techniques. The course specialises in the lyric tradition of bel canto singing, extending it from Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini to Verdi and Puccini, the essentials of the Italian opera repertoire. Passing on these unique techniques to non-Italian singers is a fundamental contribution to the preservation of the bel-canto tradition.
