ISSR, the Deaf and Mute State Institute of Rome, has become a local point of reference in the field of deafness: for teachers, psychologists, families, speech therapists, schools and members of the deaf and mute community. It offers consultancy services, documentation, courses and seminars.

The two projects (listed below) financed by the Nando Peretti Foundation aim at providing activities for deaf children, with the collaboration of the Institute of Science and Technology of Cognition of the National Research Centre.

I) Summer Centre "Adventures in the city", for deaf and hearing children, age 4-13. 

II) Meetings with teenagers and handicapped children to share views and problems, and for the construction of their autonomy and identity.
