The parish of San Salvatore in Lauro is located in the heart of Renaissance Rome. The community that revolves around San Salvatore in Lauro consists of young people, many elderly people and also people with disabilities who periodically come to the parish to participate in various activities and prayers. Many charitable and social initiatives have also been developed for the neighborhood community with particular attention to people with disabilities. Specifically, twenty-five neighborhood families in need are regularly given assistance by the parish.

At the request of the auxiliary bishop of Rome, the parish of San Salvatore in Lauro is gearing up to become a collection center for the food and sanitary emergency linked to the coronavirus crisis.
The Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation has awarded a grant which will be allocated to meet the following needs:

1. Hygiene and sanitary emergency for Rebibbia and Regina Coeli prisoners - the chaplains of the two prisons of Rebibbia and Regina Coeli in Rome report that, due to the temporary suspension of visits by their relatives, prisoners are in very critical hygienic conditions, and it is urgent to provide them with personal hygiene and sanitary products. In particular, the following products are urgently needed: shower gel, shampoos, disinfectants, shaving foam, razor blades, soaps, bleach, alcohol, amuchina, masks, toilet paper etc.
2. Food emergency for San Basilio - The Parish of San Basilio reports a food emergency situation for its target community, in one of the most degraded neighborhoods in Rome. There is a need to purchase and deliver meat and other food products.
3- Support to poor parishes - Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic, the economic situation of about thirty poor and suburban Roman parishes have further worsened.
