Q: What does the Foundation do?

A: The Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation supports projects implemented by non-profit organisations in the fields of environmental conservation, animal welfare, human welfare and the promotion of arts and culture. Over its 23 years of activity, the NaEPF has awarded grants to over 1.200 projects, for an overall estimated value of more than EUR 70.000.000. The Foundation was thus able to reach and impact on 82 different countries all over the world.

Q: Who established the Foundation?

A: The Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation is a charitable foundation established in 2000 by Elsa Peretti, dedicated to making a positive impact on society and environment through philanthropy. The foundation is dedicated to the memory of Elsa Peretti’s father, Nando, a distinguished businessman who built Anonima Petroli Italiana (API) into one of the leading European oil companies. With a focus on positive social impact, environment, animal welfare and arts and culture, the NaEPF is committed to creating a better and more equitable world for all.

Q: Where is the Foundation located?

A: The Foundation’s operational headquarters is in Zug, Switzerland. A delegation (Delegació a Catalunya) of the Foundation is based in Barcelona, Spain.

Q: Is the Foundation open to the public?

A: No, The Foundation is a private office that is not open to the public.

Q: Do you fund internationally?

A: Yes, the Foundation funds projects all over the world.

Q: How is the foundation governed?

A: The foundation is governed by a board of trustees, which in 2021 was expanded to include the CEO. The members of the board contribute their diverse perspectives, backgrounds and expertise to help guide and strengthen the foundation’s governance and strategic direction.

Q: How does the foundation approach diversity, equity, and inclusion?

A: The Foundation identifies projects to support through the lens of respect for human rights, diversity, gender equality and social inclusion. The inclusive approach is therefore the basis of our philanthropic action.

Q: What is the application review process? 

A: In line with the new Strategic Plan 2024-2027, the foundation has chosen a new proactive approach to project selection.This means that the team will proactively search for projects to support and partnerships to enter into. Unsolicited projects and applications will not be accepted for evaluation. However, we will continue to be interested in receiving a general presentation of the organisations and their activities in the field of poverty alleviation, protection of human rights, protection of the environment and animals, and promotion of education.
